Omsendbrief / Circular

17 Augustus 2011 / 17 August 2011

Geagte Ouers / Voogde / Leerders

SKOOLHOOF

Dear Parents / Guardians / Learners

Monnas and the entire world have been filled with dread by the tragic events which recently occurred in London.
Thousands of young people caused havoc in the streets - they plundered and robbed, committed arson and clashed with the British police.
The actual reason for this thoughtless mass action is as yet not quite clear. It was apparently caused by the poor state of the British economy and changes made by the British government to the social grant system.
This mass action did not only cause damages amounting to several million Rand, but also the death of five people. The entire mass action seems to have been orchestrated via the cellphone network. The action - as it is often the case with mass actions - got out of control and innocent people lost their lives in the process.

This form of mass communication used by the British youth has spread to South Africa and it has unfortunately affected Monnas too.

The mass action by Monnas learners on Friday 12 August 2011 has been initiated by similar cellphone communication and it was nothing to take pride in.

The Executive Committee of Monnas has consequently decided that cellphones will be BANNED from school if such an incident is ever repeated.

Monnas regards
